More women must enter into politics in India as country needs women politicians to play a key role in nation building, said KPCC Women’s Wing vice president Dr Nagalakshmi.
She was speaking at a lecture programme on ‘The role of women in today’s politics,’ organised by Vidya Vikas Educational Institutions in the city on Wednesday.
She said “Women are born leaders, the Constitution says that every citizen is equal, but there is only 30 percent reservation for women in our country.”
AICC spokeperson Brijesh Kalappa said “India has a rare record in women’s participation in politics, hard work with participatory mind leads to success.”
Mysuru District Congress president Dr B J Vijaykumar, VVET secretary Kavish Gowda and others were present.
