Mysuru: BJP MP Pratap Simha on Wednesday (January 19) said he is against weekend curfew and lockdown. He urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to lift the curfew to help the people who are already beleaguered.
Justifying his statement, he said, “I support people’s plea. When coronavirus came, we were talking of lockdown because there was no vaccine. The situation is different now. The vaccination initiative has also been successful in the state. Most of the taluk and district centres have hospitals that can treat the virus. Everything is in place to tackle the pandemic situation. That is the case, what is the need for weekend curfew?”
The MP said, “The weekend curfew has come as a problem to the people of the state. We should not be troubling people with unwanted things. Life has been miserable in the last two years. I request Bommai to lift curfew in the larger interest of the people.”
Continuing further, Simha said, “Hotel industry has taken a beating. Other businesses have also been hit hard, leaving the people in the lurch. Considering all these issues, the curfew should be lifted.” (MR/SH).
