The broad daylight murder case of financier Krishna in V V Mohalla which caused terror in the city has been solved by the city police with the arrest of 7 youths in the case.
Bharat Kumar alias Balu (29), Hemanth (29), Sandesh (23), Murthy alias Kaatu (26), Ashok (34), all residents of Vinayakanagar, Sanju alias Samson (29), from Chamundi Hills and Dharmendra alias Appaji (27), from Siddaramanahundi in Mysuru taluk are the arrested culprits.
On Saturday, police got a breakthrough when the CCB team arrested Bharat Kumar from JP Nagar in Bengaluru. During interrogation, Bharat confessed that he, along with his friends, had murdered Krishna to take revenge over the murder of their friend, rowdy sheeter Devendra alias Devu, six months back.
During a press meet on Sunday, City Police Commissioner Subrahmanyeshwara Rao said Krishna was an associate of former JD(S) Vontikoppal ward corporator Avva Madesha.
“During the investigation, Hemanth revealed that he suspected Krishna hatching a plan to murder him. Hemanth and his friends planned to murder Krishna at a house in Mysuru. They watched his movements and on the day of the incident, they came in a Santro car and attacked him,” he said.
“During investigation, we found there are still a few more involved in the case who are on the run. We will arrest them soon. After Devu’s murder, police had sent 28 people behind bars after booking them under Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes Act (KOCA) and Goonda Act,” he said.
“We are requesting the court not to grant bail to the accused and are demanding them to be handed over to police custody,” Rao said. Police are yet to recover the Santro car and weapons used for the crime.
