Music jugalbandi marks Basava jayanti celebrations

Music lovers of Mysuru witnessed jugalbandi of various musical instruments like flute – Nadaswara, Tabla – Dolak – Ghatam during the Basava jayanti celebrations in city on Sunday.

Madivala Swamy Mutt seer Immadi Madivala Swamy inaugurated the event along with other pontiffs including Dandikere Mahanthaswamy Mutt seer Basavalinga Swamy, Mudigundam Mutt seer Shrikantaswamy, Thilakavadi Mutt seer, Kuderu Mutt seer, MLA M K Somashekar.

Speaking after the inauguration, MLA M K Somashekar pointed out that the social reformer, Basavanna’s messages should not be limited only for celebrations, but it has to be practiced in our everyday life. “Basavanna had struggled for a casteless society, but Basava jayanti should not be confined to a particular community, all communities must be included in the celebrations,” he added.
