Mysuru, January 12:- “Sahana Angavikala Seva Prathishtana is organising a musical evening to help the blind students of the city on February 16,” said the president of the organisation, V Narasimhaiah at a press meet at Mysuru press club on Friday.
“The organisation was started by 5 visually impaired at Saraswatipuram 18 years ago to bring visually impaired to the mainstream of the society. The organisation gets all the required textbooks to Braille and distributes it throughout the state. Free hostels for students from rural areas are functioning in Mysuru and Bengaluru. 25 students each are accommodated in these hostels. The hostel is having a financial problem and we are organising this musical evening to overcome this problem,” he said.
“The event will be held at Senate Hall of the University of Mysore at 7 pm. Devotional songs, light music, folk songs, and film songs will be sung by visually impaired singers. Each ticket costs Rs 100 for the event. The logos of any organisation or institution who wants to sponsor the event will be printed on the pamphlets.
