Muslim brethren offer prayers to mark Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations in Mysuru

Mysuru, June 16:- Thousands of Muslim brethren offered prayers on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Eidgah Maidan in Tilaknagar and Rajivnagar in the city on Saturday.

The members of the Muslim community celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan and beginning of Shawwal. It was a common sight across Mysuru where Muslim brethren wearing new clothes with white caps and children accompanying their fathers congregated at open grounds and mosques to offer Namaz.

Sir Khazi of Mysuru Moulana Mohammed Usman Shariff led the prayers at the Eidgah Maidan and called upon the community members to spread the message of peace and harmony.

Tourism and Sericulture Minister Sa Ra Mahesh, former MLAs Vasu, M K Somashekar, corporator Suhail Baig and others were seen greeting Muslim brethren at Eidgah Grounds in Tilaknagar.

Special prayers were also offered at Masjid Azam on the Ashoka Road here where Hazarath Moulana Mufti Mohammed Shamshul Huda Chisty, Khateeb Masji-e-Azam led the Eid prayers and delivered the Khubda lecture.

The festival marked exchange of greetings and gifts with families, relatives and friends at various localities in the city. People from other religious practices greeted the Muslim brethren on the joyous occasion. -(KK)
