Mysuru, September 24:- As Mysuru has a lot of tourist spots, lakhs of visitors come to the heritage city from far-off places every year. Along with the tourists, Mysureans also use public transport, cabs and autos.
“The city police have now introduced a new mobile application – Mysuraksha – for the benefit of citizens and tourists if they encounter any torture, theft or harassment during their visit to the city,” said commissioner of police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwara Rao here on Monday.
“We have prepared a QR code with the details of public transport vehicles and the drivers. If any problem arises, pressing the SOS button will immediately alert the police control room. Police vehicle will reach the needy with the help of GPS. QR code will be pasted on the vehicle they travel. The public can avail the details of the driver and the vehicle by scanning the code. In case of emergency, police help will arrive within 2-5 minutes,” the commissioner added.
A meeting with the auto and taxi associations was held at the conference hall of the IG of southern ranges recently. The commissioner explained to them about the functioning of the app. DCP Vishnuvardhan, Vikram Amte and all the police inspectors were present. (MR/KS).
