Mysurean Glora Alse Dera bags State Best Teacher Award

Mysuru, March 5:- It is really a proud moment for Mysuru as Glora Alse Dera, a teacher of Government Higher Primary School, Hootagalli, who has been serving in the district for over 20 years has been selected for the State-level Best Teacher Award (Anupama Seva Puraskara). The award will be conferred upon her at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Bengaluru on March 8 on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

She has been serving as a Government School teacher since 1994.  She has worked in Chettimani, Bhagamandala in Kodagu district, Kellahalli Government School and presently serving at Hootagalli Government Higher Primary School.

Glora all through her service has been instrumental in getting aids from social service clubs like Rotary Central – getting the club to sponsor books, shoes, band instruments, water filters, utensils, etc., to every school that she was transferred to.  Her students though from rural background have secured jobs in multi-national companies (MNCs) in Bengaluru and Mysuru.  She not only teaches children, but goes all out to secure them jobs once they complete their formal education.

Earlier she has also been awarded by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as the “Best Booth-level Officer” during the general elections. Glora is supported in all her school activities by her husband Charles Lewis and her daughter Stephanie Lewis. (NGB)
