Mysureans pay tributes to SP Balasubrahmanyam

Mysuru, September 26:- Mysureans paid rich tributes to the legendary multi-lingual singer S P Balasubrahmanyam on Saturday (September 26) at K R Mohalla in the city.

Speaking on the occasion, former Congress MLA of Krishnaraja Constituency M K Somashekar lauded S P Balasubrahmanyam’s service to the cinema industry as his voice blended well with almost all the actors. SPB’s contribution to the cine industry is immense and memorable, he added.

Balasubramanyam who has sung over 40,000 songs in 16 languages will remain for ever in the minds of music lovers and the people always, said Somashekar.

Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman H V Rajeev who also spoke on the occasion said that “From the day he was admitted to the hospital due to Covid-19 infection in Chennai, the music lovers, fans and the common people had hopes that he would recover from the disease, but unfortunately he passed away on Friday.” It is sad to know that only recently SPB had sung a song on the deadly Covid-19 to educate the people and now he has succumbed to the virus. The lyrics for the song was penned by a Kannada lyricist.

Several artistes and Omkar Sound System members Chandru, Anand, Prakash, Corporator Pramila and others were present. (NAV, HN)
