Mysuru, May 25:- BEML Employees Association, Officials Association have decided to observe Mysuru bandh on May 30 from dawn to dusk, to oppose the central government’s move to privatise BEML. President of the association, N K Debaraju held a press meet here in the city on Wednesday.
“BEML is one of the largest government establishments in the country. It is under the defense ministry and manufactures products required for defence, mining, construction works, railway products and metro products. The central government has decided to give away 26% of its total 54% share in BEML. The company will be then handed over to private capitalists. Property, technology and market share will also be given to them. It will pose a threat to the national security and public property,” he said.
“To oppose this, we are observing hartal in Mysuru, Bengaluru, Kolar and Shivamogga on May 30. All the organisations are supporting the bandh. A bike rally will be held in the city on May 27 to create awareness among the public,” he added.
H A Nagashayana, Govinda Reddy, Shivappa and Chandh Singh were present at the press meet. (MR/LG).
