Mysuru, August 26:- This time the historical Mysuru Dasara procession will be held on the lines of the Republic Day parade and for the first time a rehearsal will be conducted prior to Vijayadashami, said Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree.
She was addressing a preliminary meeting of the Dasara Committee held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here to discuss the preparation for the Dasara festivities.
She said “About 50 cultural troupes will participate during the Dasara procession and this time a uniform dress code will be maintained.”
“There is a huge demand for Dasara cultural programmes at the Mysuru Palace premises. Over 250 troupes have already submitted their applications to participate from which the troupes will be selected to give cultural programme on each day. International, national and state troupes will also be considered for the cultural programme,” she added.
“Each day a total of three programmes will be staged from 6 pm to 9 pm at Palace premises under the aegis of Mysuru district administration and Kannada and Culture Department. Similar cultural programmes will be organised at Jaganmohan Palace and Town Hall premises,” Umashree said.
The minister said that prior to Dasara festivities, the Kiru Rangamandira constructed at the Kalamandir premises will be inaugurated and will be used for the Dasara programmes.
Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, Commissioner of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwra Rao and others were present.
