Mysuru district should be malaria-free: DHO Dr Venkatesh

Mysuru, June 29:- “Mysuru district should be malaria-free. Along with the works of the health department, the public should also cooperate with the department,” said district health officer (DHO) Dr R Venkatesh.

He was speaking after inaugurating a rally to mark ‘ Anti-malaria month June – 2019’ from Ashokapuram Primary Health Care Centre in the city, organised by Health and Family Welfare Department and District Epidemics Control office on Saturday.

“We are observing the anti-malaria month in the district. Our aim is to see no malaria cases in Mysuru. It can be achieved only if public give us support. Water should not be allowed to stagnate as it acts as a breeding place for mosquitoes. Dr Chidambar and his team is working hard to eradicate malaria,” he added.

Corporators Bhuvaneshwari, Begum Pallavi, Dr Chidambar, Dr Umesh, Kusuma, Dr Devi Anand and others were present. Awareness was created about malaria among public and vendors.

Responding to media queries on possible health care centre atop Chamundi Hills, Dr Venkatesh said that the government has not allotted land for the primary health care centre at the hills.

“I have already visited and identified the land for the centre. District In-charge Minister G T Devegowda has called for a meeting and I will discuss about this with him,” he added. (MR/GK)
