Mysuru Division of SWR adopts various water conservation initiatives

Mysuru, March 24:- The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) has taken up various initiatives in water conservation and has adopted unconventional methods of improving water sources.

According to a press release, the Mysuru Division of SWR has adopted rainwater harvesting system developed and commissioned at 17 locations across the division.

A total area of 8843 sq metres is allocated for rainwater harvesting duly utilising 22 units developed in different areas like railway staff quarters, divisional offices, Railway Hospital and Mysuru Railway Station building resulting in reducing water bills and developing green and healthy gardens.

The division has also developed and commissioned a water recycling plant with a capacity of 4 lakh litres at a cost of Rs.1.3 crore. The water from recycling plant is utilised for washing and cleaning of rakes in pit line and for cleaning of platform and tracks at Mysuru Railway Station duly promoting the green environment and water conservation. -KK
