Mysuru emerges as ‘third cleanest city’ in India

Mysuru, March 6:- Mysuru was nominated among the top three cleanest cities in India in the Swachh Survekshan 2019. While Indore walked away with the first prize for the third consecutive year,  the heritage city had to settle for the third place after the awards were announced at Vijnana Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Mysuru was nominated along with Indore and Ambikapore. Indore emerged as the ‘cleanest city’ followed by Ambikapore.

Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath and Commissioner of MCC Shilpa Nag received the award. Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed and MCC Health Officer Dr Nagaraj were also present. Mysureans, who were expecting the city to top the list, are slightly disappointed with the result. Last year, Mysuru ended up fifth and the third place this year is definitely heartening.

The common refrain is that if the momentum on the cleanliness is maintained throughout the year, Mysuru can grab the top honours next year. (MR/KS).
