Mysuru has been awarded the cleanest city tag not once but twice. However, the callousness of some of the citizens may cost us the title. The recently held Krishnaraja Cooperative bank elections at the Ursu Boarding School premises only shows how ignorant we can get when it comes to littering. Flyers of the candidates contesting in the election were thrown all over the road after the elections got over. On one hand we have pourakarmikas who have been working relentlessly to keep the city clean and on the other we have careless citizens who do not think twice before littering. It’s time for the citizens to realise their role in keeping the city clean and join hands with the MCC and the pourakarmikas to keep the city clean. The awareness level amongst the citizens needs to go up drastically, only then can we retain the title or it will be snatched right under our nose.
