Mysuru is different from what it was 20 years back: MUDA chief Rajeev

Mysuru, September 24:- An interaction programme with Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) chairman H V Rajeev was organised at Mysuru Press Club here on Thursday (September 24). MUDA schemes and projects were discussed on the occasion.

Prior to this, the Mysuru District Journalists’ Association (MDJA) members felicitated Rajeev with a Mysuru ‘peta’ and shawl. MDJA president C Mahendra and general secretary Lokesh Babu requested MUDA chief to allot sites to Mysuru-based journalists.

Talking on the occasion, Rajeev said, “We should make Mysuru a beautiful city. It was a different scenario 20 years back, but the city is on its way to see more development. More and more people want to settle down in Mysuru for many good reasons. We want to help old-timers of the city in whatever way we can.”

The BJP leader said, “We are concentrating on group housing scheme. We want to take farmers into confidence before buying their land. We have plans to develop satellite cities in Kallalli, Jayapura and Udburu, D Nalundi and Kerehundi. We have already held talks with the farmers from these areas. MUDA sites will be definitely better than private sites. Farmers will be given all the facilities. We want to offer jobs to local youths. Only contractors who do a good job will be preferred. We want to ensure every common man gets a site from MUDA.”

On allotting sites to journalists, Rajeev promised to look into the issue and take a decision in the near future.

On Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa’s son B Y Vijayendra being dubbed ‘Super CM’ by Congress leader, Rajeev opined, “Vijayendra is a youth leader and is the vice president of the state BJP. He may have given some suggestions to the state government on certain issues. Some people who are inimical to his growth are criticising him. Congress is a spent force in the country. If Siddaramaiah is criticising Vijayendra, I can understand his frustration.” (MR/KS)
