Mysuru logs over 2,000 Covid-19 cases; tally spikes to 1,21,987

Mysuru, May 22:- Mysuru district had witnessed a decline in Covid-19 positive cases for the last one week and has again reported 2,355 new infections on Friday (May 21) and 2991 patients have recovered, taking the tally of cumulative caseload to 1,21,987 and the recoveries to 1,07,934, according to a bulletin from the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The district again recorded double digit fatalities with 12 new deaths on Friday, taking the death toll to 1465, the second highest after Bengaluru Urban in the state.

Of the 1,21,987 positive cases, 12,588 are active and stable in the district. 149 patients have been admitted to Intensive Care Units (ICUs), according to data available from the Health and Family Welfare Department.

On May 21, 353 new fatalities were recorded in the state. Bengaluru Urban accounted for 129 followed by Bengaluru Rural-30, Ballari – 23, Uttara Kannada-22,  Shivamogga-20, Tumakuru-19, Mysuru-12, most of the districts has reported single digit fatality on Friday.

A 53-year-old man, 66-year-old man, 65-year-old woman, 55-year-old woman, 75-year-old man, 60-year-old woman, 34-year-old man, 65-year-old man, 25-year-old woman, 55-year-old man, 63-year-old man, 40-year-old woman succumbed to Covid infection at various hospitals in the district with Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) with comorbidities says the bulletin.

According to the Health Department’s data, on May 21, up to 3.30 pm, 38091 doses were given to beneficiaries among the Health Care Workers (HCWs) in the first dose; 26,730, only seven doses of vaccine was given. With regard to the Front Line Workers (FLWs), 29,215 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in the first dose on Friday and 12,278, second dose on May 21. 7415 vaccines were given in the 18-44 age group on Friday.

In the age group of 45 plus years, 6,03,428 beneficiaries were administered the jab in the first dose and 114916 in the second dose. The total vaccination coverage as of May 21 is 8,32,073 beneficiaries.

Till May 21 up to 6.30 pm, a total of 13,03,041 coronavirus samples were tested in the district, 4893 samples were tested on Friday in the district.
