Mysuru neglected; city MLAs to stay away from Dasara?

Mysuru, August 24:- Ever since the BJP government came into existence last month, people from this part of the state were expecting some sort of representation to be given to Mysuru whenever the cabinet was formed. Given the attention that it draws for more than one reason, one of the MLAs from Mysuru was expected to be made a minister. But what happened in the last couple of days is disappointing.

The rule of Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) has come to an end in the district. As BJP has come to power in the state, the BJP leaders are leading the preparations for Mysuru Dasara. Now the question being raised in the public domain is whether the city BJP leaders will actively participate in the Dasara festivities?

As none of the BJP MLAs from Mysuru was made a minister, the city BJP MLAs have decided to stay away from the Dasara events. Added to their grouse, V Somanna, who is not from Mysuru, has been made District in-charge Minister of Mysuru. If the MLAs from Mysuru are upset, they have a reason to feel so.

Whenever a party forms the government, party workers at all district levels make noise during all the events. Last year, the Congress – JD(S) party workers actively participated in Dasara events. During Congress government, the then chief minister Siddaramaiah represented Mysuru and during Congress – JD(S) coalition government, there were two ministers from JD(S) from the district. GT Devegowda and Sa Ra Mahesh were leading the preparations from the front.

As Somanna is made the district in-charge minister of Mysuru, he and his followers are expected to actively take part in Dasara preparations. As MLA Ramadass has been denied a ministerial berth, he and his followers are expected to stay away from Dasara. On his part, Ramadass has said no differences should hamper the Dasara festivities.
