Mysuru, January 5:- In view of the bird flu in Himachal Pradesh and neighbouring Kerala, a high alert has been sounded in Mysuru district.
Mysuru District Conservator of Forests (DCF) Prashanth Kumar said, “We have kept an eye on migratory birds and our staff have been asked to be on their toes. Having been alerted by the Centre in this connection, we are taking all preventive measures.”
He said, “Ranganathittu, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens and some of the lakes will be under watch. We are pondering if we have to ban public entry to Ranganathittu and it will be decided after discussing with the higher-ups. Some time back, two birds had died and the laboratory tests have proved negative. There is nothing to worry about as of now.” (MR/KS)
