Mysuru, July 2- The members of Mysuru Rakshana Vedike staged protest on Wednesday (July 1), urging the government to withdraw the order on Sunday lockdowns and restrict the movement of people from outside the districts and from other states to Mysuru.
The protesters, who gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office here, staged a symbolic protest and submitted a memorandum to the DC to be forwarded to the state government.
“The district administration had succeeded in containing the coronavirus pandemic during the lockdown period. But after easing the lockdown, the number of coronavirus cases have been rapidly increasing. Illegal entry of people to the district is the major reason behind this. Unscientific night curfew and Sunday lockdowns are affecting the lives of people. Crores of people without any income since the past 4 months. Sunday is a good business day for many merchants. Hence, the Sunday lockdowns will affect them as well. The government should withdraw the order on Sunday lockdowns,” the protesters said.
