Mysuru, May 12:- After a brief decline in the number of Covid-19 cases, Mysuru district again reported over 2,000 fresh cases on Tuesday (May 11) and double digit fatalities; 2170 new coronavirus cases were registered and 1435 patients were discharged, taking the tally of cumulative caseload to 1,02,454 and the total recoveries to 85,960, according to a bulletin from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
Of the 1,02,454 positive cases, 15,148 are active and stable in the district. 149 patients have been admitted to intensive Care Units (ICUs), according to data available from the Health and Family Welfare Department.
On Tuesday, double digit fatalities were recorded in the district and the death toll has risen to 1346, the second highest in the state after Bengaluru Urban.
On May 11, 480 new fatalities were recorded in the state. Bengaluru Urban accounted for 259 followed by Ballari – 28, Uttara Kannada 18, Hassan and Tumakauru 16 each, Bengaluru Rural 14, Chamarajanagara , Mysuru-12 each, Shivamogga 10, rest scattered across the state.
A 60-year-old man, 49-year-old man, 43-year-old man, 60-year-old man, 52-year-old man, 70-year-old woman, 53-year-old man, 63-year-old woman, 45-year-old man, 30-year-old man, 27-year-old man, 70-year-old man, succumbed to Covid infection at various hospitals in the district with Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) with comorbidities says the bulletin.
According to the Health Department’s data, on May 11, up to 3.30 pm, 37644 beneficiaries among the Health Care Workers (HCWs) were inoculated in the first dose; 26,439 in the second dose. With regard to the Front Line Workers (FLWs), 28521 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered in the first dose in the district and 11,156 in the second dose. 2288 doses of vaccines were administered to the beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group.
In the age group of 45+ years, 5,80,880 beneficiaries were administered the jab in the first dose and 104096 in the second dose, while in the above 60 years age group, the number of vaccines given merged with 45+ category. The total vaccination coverage on May 11 is 7,91,682 beneficiaries.
Till May 11 up to 5.45 pm, 12,55,890 coronavirus samples were tested in the district, 7324 samples were tested on Tuesday alone.
