Dr R V Raghavendra, director, Ananya Organisation, Bengaluru, on Thursday said “There is a need for organising dance and music seminar in Mysuru. Today our youth are running away from the distinguished forms of dance and art.”
After inaugurating a four-day seminar on “Nrityada Vividha Aamagalu,” organised by Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University, he said, “even I am fascinated by music and dance and have always believed that the dance and music are one of the most essential elements of our life.”
“Youngsters these days know only about the foreign dance culture, but not at all interested in our traditional dance and music. Nowadays, dance is getting commercialised and is only being practised for winning prizes in competitions,” he rued.
Prof Niranjana Vanalli, Registrar, Gangubai Hanagal Music and Performing Arts University and others were present.
