Mysuru student commits suicide; Blue Whale challenge suspected

Mysuru, September 12:-A Pre-University (PU) student from the city is alleged to have committed suicide after playing the dangerous Russian-based online game ‘Blue Whale’ challenge.

In an incident that came to light after a week, it is suspected that an 18-year-old PU student Tushar who had reportedly committed suicide is alleged to have been a victim of Blue Whale challenge. According to sources, the 18-year-old boy from the city has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house as a task on completing the challenge of the game.

Tushar was the only son of Prasanna and Prathima, residents of Metagalli in the city. He was doing his second-year PUC at Deeksha College in the city. It is alleged that the deceased had forced his parents to get him a Smartphone a few months back and was addicted to mobile from the past few days.

Though the family members rubbish the link of Blue Whale challenge for the death of their son, they are still uncertain about would be the reason for their son to end his life.

Metagalli Police have recorded the statements of the parents and are investigating the incident further.  However, according to sources, a few of his friends and neighbours suspect that Tushar may have taken this extreme step by being a participant in the Blue Whale challenge.

If this case is confirmed and proven right, Tushar becomes the first victim in the city to lose his life due to the game which has claimed many young lives around the world.
