Mysuru wakes up to a rainy morning

Rains bring relief to farmers in rural areas of the district

Mysuru, March 2:- Mysureans who were facing the heat due to hot weather woke up to a rainy and pleasant morning on Monday.

The unseasonal rain started around 2 am and continued till 5 am today (Mar 2). Again the city received rains at around 8 am and there was heavy rains at 1 pm in several parts of the city and district.

The power supply was disrupted in many parts of the city due to rain. School and college going children dependent on KSRTC bus services were inconvenienced due to the downpour. Traffic snarls were witnessed at several key points in the city.

It is also a relief to farmers that it rained in the Mysuru taluk. The taluk received good rainfall last year and cattle had no drinking water problem as all ponds and lakes were full.

According to farmers, there will be no problem for cattle as it has been raining in the rural areas of the taluk for more than two days.

Heavy rains also lashed Mangaluru and Udupi in coastal Karnataka on Monday bringing respite to the people from the scorching heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted ‘cloudy sky’ in coastal Karnataka, Kodagu, Mysuru and Mandya districts. (MR, NGB/KS)
