Mysuru warriors registered their second consecutive win of the KPL 2016 here on Sunday. The Mysuru Warriors defeated Rockstars, led by Sudeep, by 113 runs. Arjun Hoysala (89* runs, 61 balls, 7 boundaries, 2 sixes) and Rajoo Bhatkal (49 runs, 37 balls, 4 boundaries, 1 six) shared the day’s honours with their batting heroics. With this second victory, Warriors are now the table topers.
Asked bat first, Warriors piled up 219 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In response, Sudeep’s Rockstars scored 106 runs in 18 overs, thanks to a fighting fifty by opener Rajiv (51 runs, 23 balls, 7 boundaries, 3 sixes). J Suchith (3 for 27) bowled an excellent spell to restrict Rockstars to 106.
For Warriors, openers Arjun Hoysala and Rajoo Bhtakal provided an excellent start, by piling up 118 runs off 80 balls. After the departure of the openers, K Goutham (33 runs, 14 balls, 1 boundary, 3 sixes) and Anirudha Joshi (27 runs, 9 balls, 4 sixes) helped the team go past 200-run mark.
Captain ad wicket keeper of Rockstars, Sudeep got injured when Warriors batted. He got hit on the chest when S L Akshay was bowling. He was forced to leave the field immediately. B R Sharath kept the wickets for the remaining. Sudeep came to bat at 10 but scored only 2 runs. Apart from the actors, having professional players in the team made no difference to Rockstars’ fortune.
