Mysuru, April 25:- Marriage is an important stage in everyone’s life. But these days, marriages are limited to show one’s opulence and status. Plastic cups, plates and decorations have become integral part of weddings. On Wednesday, Mysuru witnessed its first plastic-free green wedding.
Nishchal, son of an engineer of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), Mahesh married Pooja B Sheshadri in a ‘green’ wedding on Wednesday. The entire premises of the wedding venue was made free of plastic. Steel plates and cups were used instead of plastic ones. About 2,000 steel plates and cups were used for the event.
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar, Commissioner of MCC Shilpa Nag handed over the couple a certificate of a green wedding. The effort of MCC to introduce green wedding has been successful to some extent, thanks to the official’s initiative. (MR/KS).
