Mysuru’s Young Indians say ‘Beat Plastic’

Mysuru, July 17:- With intent to create awareness and sensitise citizens and vendors to avoid plastic bags and use cloth bags, a programme titled ‘Beat Plastic’ was held in the city on Tuesday.

Young Indians (Yi), Mysuru chapter, a unit of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) along with Humane Touch and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) launched the awareness programme ‘Beat Plastic’ at Devaraja Market on Sayyaji Rao Road in the city.

This initiative was launched by Chamaraja Constituency Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA L Nagendra along with MCC Commissioner KH Jagadeesh, MCC health officer Dr Nagaraj and others.

Nagendra appealed everyone to carry their own cloth bag and urged the citizens to join hands to secure the ‘Clean City’ for Mysuru again. Jagadeesh also requested the citizens and vendors to support the cause.

Dr Nagaraj said that strict action would be taken against use of plastic bags. Awareness and wholehearted participation by the people can make a change, he added. -KK
