In a move to spread awareness about child protection, the Department of Women and Child Welfare organised ‘Mythri Sapthaha’, at the exhibition grounds, Mysuru on Monday.
Inaugurating the function, the Deputy Director of the Department of Women and Children Welfare, K Radha said that the main aim of the Sapthaha is to offer assistance and protection to children in the city. “With number of cases getting registered under the POSCO (Protectection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, raising, children should be aware that an organisation exists to provide security to them. This will be achieved by distributing posters to schools and government offices across the city,” she said.
A 24/7 children helpline, 1098 was also launched.
