Nanjanagudu faces flood threats

Mysuru, August 17:- Swirling waters of Kapila river have given rise to flood threat at Nanjanagudu.

Houses and farms on the river bank are submerged in water. Hadinaru kalu mantapa of Nanjanagudu is all set to submerge completely. River water has entered snanaghatta, Parashurama temple. Residents of Vakkalageri, Halladakeri, Topina Beedi have been shifted to safety. Police have prohibited heavy vehicles on Hejjege bridge.

Shelters have been opened for flood-affected people. Women have donated mats and pillow for the people. Flood-affected people are requesting the authorities for land and house. Gaddige of Suttur mutt is also facing flood threat. If further water is released, the river could reach Gaddige shortly. Hundreds of acres of land at Suttur are inundated. (MR/KS).
