Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting with party leaders from Nanjangud to devise strategies to win the by-poll to Nanjangud Assemble constituency.
Siddaramaiah, who has been in the city from past two days, held meeting with political leaders and leaders of Nanjangud to discuss and get feedbacks on whom to announce as the Congress candidate for the upcoming by-election. The CM, however, was evasive to fielding his trusted aide but instead said he has taken feedback from the leaders and would announce the name of the candidate when the dates of the elections are announced.
A few of the leaders from the Nanjangud constituency batted for Dr H C Mahadevappa and a few for his son Sunil Bose. He also met the leaders from gram panchayats to taluk panchayats and took their suggestions on the political strategy to be adopted to take on his bet noire Srinivas Prasad in the region.
The meeting which began on Thursday afternoon continued till evening where party observers L Hanumantaiah, Narayana Swamy and Nanjaiahmath and Mysuru district Congress committee chief B J Vijay Kumar were present.
Some of the leaders, who attended the meeting, are said to have favoured Dr Mahadevappa to take on Prasad, but the name of JD(S) keader Kalale Keshavamurthy was also discussed. Some leaders have also suggested fielding Sunil Bose against Prasad, who crossed over to BJP earlier this week.
