The department of Gastroenterology and digestive disease at Narayana Multi- speciality hospital added another feather to its cap with introduction of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS).
Endoscopic ultrasound is a medical procedure in which endoscopy is combined with ultrasound in order to obtain better images of the internal organs in the chest, abdomen and colon during diagnosis. This advanced equipment was inaugurated by Superintendent of police Ravi D Channannavar.
Addressing a press conference in the city on Friday, Medical Gastroenterologist of Narayana Multi speciality hospital, Dr Satheesh Rao A K said: “The incidence of digestive diseases has shown an upward trend in Mysuru and adjoining districts. This advanced diagnostic equipment improves visualisation giving detailed images and assists in accurate diagnostic, therapeutic and interventional procedures for cancers and disease of the GI track.”
“The endoscopic ultrasound allows for every detailed imaging and analysis of the pancreas and bile duct and staging of GI cancer,” he added.
Facility director of Narayana Multi speciality hospital Nithin Aiyappa and others were present.
