Nation pays tribute to martyrs of 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament

Prime News, National, New Delhi, December 13:- Nation pays rich tributes to the martyrs today who laid down their lives in defence of the Parliament of India during terrorist attack on this day in 2001.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad and several other ministers and Members of Parliament paid floral tributes to the portraits of the martyrs in the Parliament complex.

Blood donation camp was also organised at the Parliament premises to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs. On December 13, 2001 terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed stormed the Parliament complex and fired indiscriminately. They were gunned down after a fierce battle in which five of the Delhi police personnel, a women CRPF trooper and two of the Parliament watch and ward staff and a gardener were killed. A journalist who sustained injuries died later. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
