Mysuru, January 4:- “Ten central labour organisations and more than two crore labourers will take part in the nationwide protest, condemning the anti-labour policies of the central government on January 8 and 9,” said the convenor of AITUC, CITU, INTUC and AIUTUC at a press meet held at Mysuru Press Club on Friday.
“Labour unions of banks and insurance companies will also be part of the protest. Members of AITUC will stage a protest rally from Ramaswamy Circle to Town Hall on Ashoka Road here. A mega open meeting will be held at 12:30 pm. Bank and insurance employees will protest in front of their offices,” said convener of AITUC H B Ramakrishna.
“Modi government has failed to fulfill its promises. Prices of daily needs have gone up. Labour rights have been suppressed and Apprentice Act, NEEM, PTE and other Acts are curtailing the rights of labourers,” he alleged.
“A bike rally will be held in Metagalli and Hootagalli industrial areas at 8 am on January 8 as part of the protest,” he added.
CITU Jayaram, AITUC Chandrashekhar Meti, INTUC’s Puttaiah, Jagannath, Anil Kumar, Somaraj Urs and others were present. (MR/KMR)
