Mysuru, September 18:- Nayeema Sultana Nazir Ahmed has finally resigned as president of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat here on Tuesday. She had continued as the president of ZP for a long time without bothering about the instructions from Janata Dal (Secular) leaders.
“I had no pressure to resign. I have willingly stepped down as the ZP president,” she stated.
Earlier, it was said that she was made the president of Zilla Panchayat for 20 months and she refused to step down even after being asked by the party leaders.
Zilla Panchayat vice-president G Nataraj of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also submitted his resignation.
It is expected that the election for the two posts will be held after Dasara Festivities. BJP and JD(S) are in power in ZP in a coalition set-up. (MR/KS).
