Newborn abandoned baby boy rescued at J K Grounds

A newborn baby boy just a day old was found abandoned in the wee hours of Saturday morning at J K Grounds. Children who were playing cricket at the ground heard the baby cry and spotted it at around 9. 30 am and informed the police.

On being informed, the police arrived at the spot took the newborn and to Cheluvamba Hospital for treatment. The newborn is now under observation. Police, who are now on the lookout for the baby’s mother, suspect that the child could have been left at the ground overnight. The child has been found to be stable and retains the hospital band in its hand. The police noted that the band would provide them with the clue about the hospital where the baby was delivered. Doctors who examined the baby have stated the health of the newborn to be in good stead. The child is said to be a day or two old. Doctors, however, suspect the parents might have abandoned the child as it was premature. A case has been registered with the Devaraja Police Station.
