Mysuru, November 22:- “There have been instances of infant deaths in the city. It is doctors’ responsibility to give information to pregnant women regarding nutrition and food,” said Deputy Commissioner D Randeep here on Wednesday. He was speaking at NHM progress review meeting organised by the health department.
“According to several reports, women are dying due to anaemia. Infant mortality is increasing as pregnant women don’t consume nutritious food, resulting in shunted growth of infants. Mathrupurna scheme has to be implemented properly to help pregnant women, newborns and mothers to be healthy,” he said.
District health officer Dr Basavaraju, Dr Gopinath, Dr Kusuma and others were present. (MR/KS).
