NIA arrests Sachin Vaze’s associate Riyaz Qazi in Mukesh Ambani security scare case

Prime News, National (Mumbai), April 11:- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Assistant Police Inspector (API) of the Mumbai Police Riyaz Qazi in the Ambani bomb scare case.

Riyaz Qazi, who is said to be one of the close aides of Sachin Vaze, has been sent to the NIA custody till April 16. The NIA has asked for 10 days’ custody of Qazi.

Special Public Prosecutor Sunil Gonsalves said, “According to Vaze, Qazi has destroyed the evidence related to the case. Investigation so far revealed that Qazi was working at the behest of the Vaze. Therefore, it needs to be investigated. Qazi was well aware of the crime and was present when number plates were destroyed.”

Gonsalves further said, “Without questioning Qazi, we will not find out his role in Mansukh murder case. We need to question him from where gelatin sticks were procured?”

Meanwhile, defense lawyer Taraq Sayyed said, “Vaze was IO in the case, Qazi was assisting him. He made station diary, DVRs seized by him. He informed Vaze about it. If he was involved in the conspiracy why would he gave official noting of the evidence?”

According to sources in the NIA, Riyaz Qazi helped Sachin Vaze in the destruction of evidence in the case.

Riyaz Qazi is the second police officer arrested in the case so far. He was posted at the CIU unit and worked under Sachin Vaze.

Earlier, in a CCTV footage, Qazi was seen entering a number plates shop in Vikhroli area in Mumbai and having a conversation with the outlet’s owner. He was also seen taking away a digital video recorder and a computer of the shop. (MR, Inputs: Agencies).
