NIA raids: Must learn from earlier episodes, says Mehbooba Mufti

Prime News, Nation, (Srinagar), December 28:-After National Investigation Agency or NIA faced widespread mocking for declaring Diwali firecrackers and A4 sized printouts of ISIS as a threat to justify their raids, Jammu and Kashmir’s former Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti on Friday reacted over it and said NIA must learn from the earlier episodes, where accused were acquitted after decades.

Mufti in a tweet reacted that the national security is supreme. But, declaring people terrorists on suspension and tagging them with IS is a premature act. Adding that such conducts had left bad sufferings on families and over their lives.

Taking to social media site Twitter, Mufti tweeted, “National security is supreme. But declaring suspects as terrorists on the basis of Sutli bombs, associating with the dreaded IS is premature. It has already devastated their lives and families. NIA must learn from earlier episodes in which the accused were acquitted after decades.”

On 27 December, the NIA had conducted raids across Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and arrested ten people claimed to have busted an ISIS module in India. The ten people, all Muslims, were accused to plan an attack on crowded places and political personalities.
