NIE trying to grab KSDL land, alleges KSDL Employees’ Union

Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL) Employees’ Union general secretary G R Shiva Shankar alleged that the National Institute of Engineering (NIE) was trying to grab seven acres of KSDL land in Mysuru.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he alleged that the NIE is using all its influence to grab 7. 32 acres of KSDL land to construct an educational institution. “NIE is trying to influence Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy.”

As KSDL will be completeing 100 years in 2017, we are planning to build a convention hall for the benefit of the employees and the public, and it would also be a centenary celebrations memorial. “Hence, the chief minister must not bow to the wishes of NIE.”

Further he said that KSDL had around 55.96 acres in 1917. The company was in loss and we could not owe a debt of Rs 5 crore to the department of forest and therefore, KSDL had given 21 acres of its land to the department of forest. “The company is in profit now and we need to expand our market. The department of forest should give back the KSDL land for which we will pay the full amount. The land would be used for sandalwood nursery and the KSDL will produce its own raw material.”
