Anticipation, hard work, and optimism … the annual function celebrated by special children from Nireekshe School reflected it all.
Speaking at the inauguration, Founder of Nrithyagiri Performing Arts and Research Centre Vidushi Kripa Phadke said: “Having children with special needs is a privilege. Parents if such children are chosen by God to protect them. Parents should be proud of these kids.”
District Disabled Welfare Officer H R Srinivas called upon the schools and parents of special schools to avail government facilities. “These children are a gift from god. They need special care. The primary need is to make them independent. They should be able to take up their daily activities without assistance,” he said and appreciated Nireekshe for its exemplary work in this regard.
Further, he said that children with more than 75 percent disabilities will get a monthly allowance of Rs 1200 and those with less than 75 percent disabilities will get Rs 500. Besides this, education loans will be available and parents should make use of it by obtaining ID cards for their children, he said.
Chairman of Karnataka Exhibition Authority R Murthy, Praveen Krupakar and Hemamalini Krupakar were present.
