The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) award was presented to the University of Mysore (UoM) on Wednesday. “The varsity has been ranked 36 among 774 universities across the country in the national survey conducted by NIRF,” said UoM in-charge Vice-Chancellor Dayananda Mane.
Addressing a press meet here in the city on Thursday, he said, “The award was handed over to the authorities at a function presided over by President Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapathi Bhavan at New Delhiy.”
Speaking about the hike in the pay scale for guest faculties, Mane said, “UoM has submitted a proposal to the government seeking a hike in the pay scale of guest lecturers. According to the University Grants Commission (UGC), there is a provision to pay up to Rs 25,000 per month to a guest faculties and the UoM authorities have written a letter to the government urging it to hike the salary of the faculty members from this academic year.”
UoM Registrar R Rajanna said teaching faculty will be recruited soon. Registrar (Evaluation) J Somashekar, Prof Lingaraja Gandhi, Finance Officer Mahadevappa and others were present. – (KK)
