NMC Bill: OPD services hit at private hospitals in Mysuru as doctors protest

Mysuru, July 28:- Outpatient Departments (OPD) at many hospitals and nursing homes in the city were hit on Saturday following a call given by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to protest against the proposed National Medical Commission Bill.

Doctors of various private hospitals and nursing homes, members of Indian Medical Association (IMA), district branch, gave a call to observe ‘Dikkar Diwas’ in the city to protest against the proposed introduction of new Medical Commission Bill by the Union government.

The medical services were hit on Saturday to pressurise the central government not to introduce the bill which according to them is anti-poor and anti-democracy.

Doctors of various medical centres abstained from work from 6 in the morning on Saturday. The medical services (Out Patient Departments) at various hospitals in the city will not function till 6 pm while the Emergency Services will function as usual.

Members of IMA led by Mysuru chapter president M S Vishveshwara, Dr S P Yoganna, Dr Sujatha Rao and others met Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Yogesh and submitted a memorandum. -(HN,KK)
