No forceful purchase of lands from farmers: GTD

Mysuru, February 5:- “The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will give land and title deeds directly to the farmers. You don’t have to be scared. Your land will be purchased only if you wish to sell,” said District In-charge Minister G T Devegowda here on Monday.

He was speaking at a meeting with the farmers at Ballahalli village in Jayapura hobli on housing layout with 50:50 ratio with farmers.

“MUDA is planning to develop a layout in this area. Officials have discussed with me regarding this. I feel that it will be helpful for the farmers if it is done on a 50:50 basis. I have instructed them to collect the opinion of the farmers. They are planning to construct the layout in 431.10 acres of land. According to the land price of Rs 1,000 per square feet, an acre of land will cost Rs 1 crore. Farmers have to discuss this with the officials. Give your land for the layout only if you wish to and there is no coercion. It will be of no loss for you. Mysuru city has to be developed. More layouts have to be formed here. That is why the authority is asking you for the land. Share your opinions with the officials within one week,” he added.

Commissioner of MUDA P S Kantharaj, Zilla Panchayat member Beerihundi Basavanna and others were present. (MR/KS).
