Non-bailable warrant against Sunil Bose

A non-bailable warrant (NBW) has been issued against Sunil Bose, the son of District In-Charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa for failing to appear before the Third Additional District and Sessions Judge. Judge Sudhendranath issued the warrant in case number SC 194/2.

Bose was supposed to appear before the court as the Karnataka High Court had dismissed his petition seeking exemption from the court to attend the proceedings in person in a case related to granting licence for sand mining.

In 2010, the Lok Ayukta police and officials of State Mines and Geology Department conducted a raid on Alphonsus, a scientist working in geology department while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in the presence of Sunil Bose and his supporter Raju.

Later the scientist in his police statement said that he ended up receiving the bribe due to enormous pressure from Sunil Bose.

However, Lok Ayukta police omitted Sunil Bose’s name when the FIR was registered. Following this, the complainant Basavaraju questioned that decision which was later changed by the local court which made Sunil Bose as the second accused and his supporter Raju as the third accused while retaining the name of Alphonsus, the first accused.
