Prime News, Karnataka, Politics, Mysuru, February 26:- Anguished by the news that a notice has been served to their leader MLA Tanveer Sait by the party high command, his supporters, who had gathered in large numbers near his house, shouted slogans against the senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah and others.
The former Chief Minister was apparently not in favour of any type of alliance with Janata Dal (Secular) for the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) mayoral polls. Much to his annoyance, a deal was struck with the JD(S) at the last minute. Some of the leaders in the Congress are thinking Sait took the initiative to align with the JD(S) and hence the notice.
Looking very agitated, Sait’s supporters said, “Who is this man Ramesh Kumar to serve a notice to our leader? They are all jealous of our leader’s popularity. There are so many Congress leaders from the Mysuru region who were part of the mayoral deal. As a local MLA, he has every right to take a decision in the party’s interest. All the leaders know what transpired during the meeting with the JD(S) leaders and why to single out our leader?”
Talking to the media later, Sait said, “There is always internal bickering in any party. So far, I have not received any notice from the party and I only read it in newspapers. The decision was taken in the interest of the party. D Dhruvanarayan was also there as the party’s observer. We were supposed to get the Mayor’s post but had to sacrifice it due to unavoidable circumstances. I will see the notice and answer accordingly. I don’t want to talk anything against anyone right now. In the interest of the public, I took the decision and I shall make it clear to my senior leaders.” (MR/KS)
