Strengthening its commitment towards sustainable development, Cycle Pure Agarbathies, India’s largest manufacturer, on Friday announced its support for the upcoming edition of the KSCA Tiger Cup 2016 cricket tournament, happening at the SJCE Ground, Mysuru. The Tiger cup leverages love for cricket to bring about awareness and encourage sustained efforts to protect the precious tigers. The tournament will be an inter-school competition for under-16 category that will start from November 2 and conclude on November 23.
The tournament was conceptualized by former India batsman Sandeep Patil to help spread the word about wildlife conservation and inclusive sustainable development. The objective of the initiative is to encourage the youth to assist the government, largely including the participation of the forest department, to help conserve our forests and wildlife, especially tigers. Apart from spreading awareness, the initiative recognises meritorious forest watchers and guards.
Speaking about the initiative, Pavan Ranga, co-owner, Mysuru Warriors and Director, NR Group said, “In India where cricket is loved so fondly, what can be a better platform than this to grab people’s attention? This cricket tournament is part of our constant endeavor to educate the masses regarding the sustainable development of the society and ecosystem that we live in. It is an attempt to address the issue of tiger extinction and draw people’s attention towards it. Through this tournament, we are aiming to fulfill two purposes, one of spreading awareness regarding tiger conservation and the other to provide opportunity for upcoming cricket talents.” Sudhakar Rai, Chairman, KSCA, Mysuru Zone, Balachandar, Convenor, KSCA, Mysuru Zone and Joseph Hoover, senior cricket journalist, were present.
