As part of the cultural programmes of the Mysuru Shopping Festival 2016, Mysuru’s renowned Nrityagiri Team will perform classical and folk dance on Saturday, July 9. The performance has be shifted from Chikka Gadiyara to Town Hall due to climate conditions.
The cultural evening will be inaugurated by former minister S A Ramadas. Ward 17 Corporator M S Balasubramania who is popular as Snake Shyam, President of Hotel Owners Association C Narayana Gowda, Deputy Director, Department of Tourism Shashi Kumar, President of Mysore Travels Association C A Jayakumar would be present.
Renowned classical dancer and founder of Nrityagiri performing arts and research centre Mysuru Vidushi Kripa Phadke would be the guest of honour.
Last Saturday, Kodagu’s renowned Valleydew Dance Team performed Kodava folk dance including Bolakaat, Ummathaat, Kattiyaat and Kolaata.
The cultural evening initiative is aimed at targeting tourists. Since tourists visiting the city are not privy to the rich culture in performing arts, the Mysuru Shopping Festival is organising cultural events with a view to promote fine arts, the culture of the city.
