NSS can bridge a relationship with society: BN Maruti Prasanna

Mysuru, August 9:- Inauguration of annual activities of National Service Scheme (NSS) of Sree Nataraja PU College for Women was held at the college premises here on Thursday.

NSS programme convener and lecturer of Kannada Department of MMK and SDM Women’s College BN Maruti Prasanna inaugurated the event.

“NSS was started in 37 universities in 1969. It was a dream of Mahatma Gandhi to serve the society along with education. Timeliness, service and relationships with the society can be achieved with NSS,” he said.

“We have to keep personalities like Mother Teresa and Salumarada Thimmakka as role models. Even the United Nations was inspired by the selfless service of Salumarada Thimmakka. The dream of Gram Swarajya of Mahatma Gandhi can be seen from the service of NSS volunteers,” he added.

Shivakumar, vice-principal of the college Dr G Prasadamurthy, V D Sunitha Rani and others were present. (MR/SH)
