Officers’ suicide: BJP, KRV activists demand CM’s resignation

In separate protests staged in city on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha and Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Swabhimani Bana) demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah following the suicide of two police officers in recent days and over harassment of honest bureaucrats in the state.

At Gandhi Square, the activists of the BJP Yuva Morcha demanded stringent action against Minister for Bengaluru Development K J George for having allegedly tortured Deputy Superintendent of Police M K Ganapathi, who committed suicide at a lodge in Madikeri on Thursday, and over alleged harassment of government officials like Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C Shikha and Anupama Shenoy, DSP ofKudligi Sub-division in Ballari district who resigned recently.

There is complete breakdown of law and order under Siddaramaiah government in the state and the chief minister should resign immediately owning moral responsibility, the activists said. More than 100 BJP activists led by City BJP President Dr Manjunath, leaders H V Rajeev, Nandish Preeetham, Devaraj, Ramesh and Lokesh chanted slogans against Siddaramaiah government maladministration.

In another protest staged in front of Gandhi’ s bust near Law Courts, activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Swabhimani Bana) condemned the Siddaramaiah government for the increasing number of suicides by efficient government officers allegedly due to political interference.

The vedike demanded dropping of minister K J George from Siddaramaiah cabinet until the CID probe is completed in connection with DSP Ganapathi’s suicide.
