Mysuru, February 22:- “Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has to provide helmets, gloves and shoes to pourakarmikas for their security,” said the vice chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Caste (NCSC) L Murugan.
He was addressing a meeting of Mysuru regional level officials at Zilla Panchayat Hall here on Thursday. He collected information on SC/ST atrocity cases, Manhole Scavengers Act, and the implementation of government projects. He instructed the officials to give ESI number, PF number, bank account and salary details of pourakarmikas within 15 days.
He instructed the Police Department to form teams to avoid atrocities on SC/ ST communities, barber shops, temples and other public places. He said that compensation has been sought from the government for the eight SC/ST community members who died in Sulwadi Kichuguth Maramma Temple tragedy.
He instructed the officials to visit sugar factories in Mandya to know about children under the age of 18 working in there.
